Well, Shinji actually used the brakes. He just did it differently, in my opinion. I think he would apply the throttle a few metres before the corner to reduce the engine speed, and then as he got closer to the corner, he would apply the brake to slow down a bit, and only then would he go through the corner. This technique is good for saving tyre, brake and fuel life.

… the reason why it works is because ur coming inside and fast on the corner they can’t take it tight inside how you did because it’d cause a crash. It’s not about having a faster lap it’s about making ur own opening by forcing ur opponent to take it wider and slower because they wouldn’t have the optimal angle for an outside approach due to u forcing them to go outside last second

I wish gt7 also had the r32,s attessa more oversteery. In gt7 its alll understeer for the 32 but the 33 and 34 are perfect and more fun to drive as there attessa settings are more oversteery

Not really a fair comparison since the roads are wet. The grip car can't corner as fast as it normally could, while the drift car can corner easier. In dry conditions, drifting would never be as fast as gripping.
